AppExchange Application – Part 2
After a long time I decided to make a continuation of the article in which I focus on apps from AppExchange. This time I've taken a slightly different approach and this installment will only be about apps that are free. At least in the basic versions. Sometimes you really just need to type a few keywords into google and the solution will be found quickly. We don't have to work so hard to come up with workarounds or custom solutions.
Today we will look at solutions that will help you with:
- Audit with existing fields
- Send reports to non-Salesforce users
- Generating documents directly in Salesforce
If you'd like to share a solution you found on the AppExchange, let us know via email (info@salesforcestuff.org) or fill out the form here
ZoomInfo Field Trip
First we have an application that is more likely to be appreciated by administrators, consultants and developers. However, it can also serve users, as it simply helps to determine which fields are used and which are not.
When does this come in handy? Consider a situation where you have a well-established implementation, several years old. You've had several people working on the project and of course fulfilling the requirements. Sometimes in such a way that only one specific user's field was created. (No, this is not a myth, this really happens). You decide to fix the situation and you need to analyze the usability of the fields. And that's exactly what Field Trip is for. It's a tool that helps audit your current data model.
The setup is really simple and the app will walk you through it. At the beginning you only need to create Remote Site Settings, but it does the solution practically for you.
Just create a new record, select the object, set the preferences (query) and run the job. When it is finished, the record is displayed with information and a complete list of usable fields can be found on the related tab.
I can only recommend it, thanks to this we managed to simplify the data model. A lot.

Peeklogic Report Sender
Next in line is a solution that gives Salesforce the ability to send Reports or Dashboards to specific email addresses, and therefore to non-Salesforce users. The usability here is surprisingly broad. For example, you need to regularly send a Pipeline Report to your supervisor, but they don't have access to Salesforce. Or every month someone in management needs to see a Dashboard that shows Lead Conversions, Forecast, etc. Again, this person or group of people does not have access to the system.
SF does not allow you to send reports to someone who is not listed as a user. Quite a sad feature, but on the other hand very understandable - security.
With the Peeklogic Report Sender solution you have the option to send a report/dashboard to specific email addresses either once or set a regular frequency. Simple, fast and free in the basic version.

S-Doc
Well, we're at the final stage and let's take a look at a tool that allows us to generate pdf, doc, html, pttx, csv, xml, xlxs,... Quite a lot, right? This is all included in the free version. The biggest limit is the number of active templates. You can only have two of them. Assuming an increase, you need to have the paid version. But even with that, at least the basics can be covered somehow.
To be honest, S-Doc is definitely not the best solution, but it is definitely user friendly, easy to set up and easy to create templates. You have the ability to insert individual fields from objects, related sheets, images, etc.
I created this template for a test.
It's simple and probably a bit ugly, I really gave it 5 minutes. But still I believe it will help you to make a picture.
The init setup itself can be calculated in lower units of minutes. Practically just install, insert the necessary component on the flexi page and hurray to create the template

In the end...
I have to say that I have come into contact with each of these apps, some even repeatedly. They have their quirks, but they can definitely help. So I hope they can help some of you too.
